Bob and Lola Sanford Elementary School

Van Alstyne ISD launched construction of its second elementary school named Bob and Lola Sanford Elementary School on August 10, 2017. This two-story, 80,000-square-foot school was designed to house pre-K and first grades on the first floor and grades two through five on the second floor.

A unique element to this project for ATMAC and its HVAC services was the full gymnasium built to serve as the school’s storm shelter. ATMAC worked with project engineers on a special housing FEMA grills. Space was also designated for after-school community activities and ATMAC provided HVAC and plumbing for a standard elementary school cafeteria and library.

Sam Houston High Scool

ATMAC was tasked with installing new HVAC and plumbing systems to the existing Sam Houston High School while classes remained in session. This required ATMAC to schedule jobs to be completed in phases, either when the school was closed (in the evenings and on weekends) or in cornered-off areas with a focus on avoiding disruption to existing HVAC and plumbing systems. ATMAC coordinated HVAC and plumbing work with Pogue Construction to best accommodate the school district’s needs.

Plumbing Construction

La Academia de Estrellas is a new 100,416 square foot 2-story charter school serving grades K through 8th with all the bells and whistles. It includes a library, computer lab spaces on both floors, a science lab, band room, auditorium/cafeteria, and a 10,102 square foot gymnasium with a hardwood floor and full locker room facilities. The building is wrapped around a landscaped courtyard that acts as a community space for the entire student body.

ATMAC’s job was to install all plumbing for the school. Easy enough, except there was no water until a couple of weeks before school was scheduled to open. How do you test all these lines to ensure there are no leaks before the walls are put up and the floors installed? Air. Utilizing high-pressured air, we tested all plumbing lines from the kitchen sink to water fountains and science labs, and everything in between. The result? The job was completed on time and the best part—the kids love their new school.
