Job Opportunity: Commercial HVAC Estimator

Location: Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Texas (occasional site visits).
Position Overview:
ATMAC Mechanical is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Estimator to join our dynamic team in the DFW area. The ideal candidate will prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial HVAC systems, collaborating with general contractors (GCs) to deliver competitive bids. With 4+ years of experience and familiarity with Trimble software, you will play a key role in our HVAC construction projects, reporting to the Chief Estimator. Join us in serving the booming DFW market with our hands-on approach to HVAC equipment and duct installation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial HVAC systems, including equipment (RTU, AHU, VAV boxes), ductwork, and installation labor, using Trimble software for quantity takeoffs and pricing.
- Review plans, specs, and RFIs from GCs to ensure accurate bid preparation and compliance with local codes (e.g., IMC, ASHRAE).
- Analyze historical data and DFW market trends to optimize bids and minimize risks.
- Attend pre-bid meetings with GCs and provide technical support during negotiations.
- Maintain bid logs and report variances to the Chief Estimator for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in commercial HVAC estimating, with proven work on projects with general contractors in the DFW area (Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas).
- Proficiency in Trimble estimating software (e.g., Trimble Accubid or Viewpoint) for accurate takeoffs and cost modeling.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical codes (IMC, ASHRAE) and plans/specs interpretation.
- Excellent computer literacy, including Bluebeam, Procore, Excel, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within DFW.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with DFW-specific general contractors and local permitting processes.
- Strong computer skills for estimating and bid preparation.
- Strong communication skills for reporting to the Chief Estimator.
